South Perth MLA John McGrath has expressed his sorrow on the untimely loss of his predecessor, Phil Pendal.
“Phil was a good friend and a mentor, whose advice I respected,” Mr McGrath said.
Mr McGrath said he would be forever grateful to Mr Pendal for the encouragement he gave him to stand for the seat of South Perth.
“Phil told me that serving the people of South Perth would be the most rewarding thing I would do in my life”he said.
“Phil was the consummate local member, serving the community for 25 years.” He also was an outstanding Member of Parliament who acted without fear or favour. His morals and principles were without question and he was never driven by agendas.
“His loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him.
“I extend my deepest sympathy to Maxine and his three children.”
