Manning Road off-ramp: a dream of ’05

WHEN I FIRST entered State Parliament in 2005, there was a need for an off-ramp from Manning Road to cater for motor vehicles wanting to access Kwinana Freeway South.

On 29 October 2019 this became a reality when State Transport Minister Rita Saffioti, Federal member for Swan Steve Irons and I lifted the first sod of dirt on the project.

Currently, motorists have to follow Manning Road to the Canning Highway exit, turn right and pass Canning Bridge station, then take another right to access the on-ramp for Kwinana Freeway south.

After 14 years of lobbying both parties in government, a cut through land near Mt Henry Tavern will be finished next year and take motorists direct from Manning Road to the southbound freeway.

Bus route 30 swerves to help Manning residents

ON SEPTEMBER 17 I joined Transport Minister Rita Saffioti and constituents at the newly installed bus stop near the Manning Community Centre (Manning Hub).

Due to many constituents’ requests and work by my office, the Minister enabled bus route 30 to be re-routed.

Bus route 30 has seven of its Monday-to-Friday journeys deviated to allow easier passenger access to the library at the Hub, a new medical centre and the Welwyn Avenue shopping strip.
