Mr McGrath welcomed the Barnett Government’s announcement that the City of South Perth had secured $800,000 in funding under the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).

Mr McGrath said: “The construction of a multi- purpose recreation facility as part of the proposed Manning Hub development and ground improvements at James Miller Oval will ensure that the Manning community has a first-class sports facility into the future.

“This investment of funds is a huge boost for local sporting clubs, which are the lifeblood of our community”.

“A liberal-led Government is committed to keeping local communities strong and encouraging healthy active lifestyles by continuing to deliver real benefits at a grass roots level.”

“The Barnett Government has more than doubled the investment in the Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund, helping sporting clubs and organisations across the state complete upgrades they might otherwise be unable to afford,” said Mr McGrath.

Connie McGhie (pictured) has been a stalwart of Manning since the 1950s and was involved in the building of the original change rooms that are now set to be re-built. She and John recently attended the club’s Legends’ Day where Connie was introduced to the big crowd in attendance.

Mr McGrath encouraged local clubs and organisations in the South Perth electorate to get their applications in for projects under $150,000 when the 2013-2014 CSRFF grants open on February 1.
