On Friday 7 December 2012 South Perth MLA John McGrath was pleased to officially open the newly refurbished Karawara Family and Community Centre at the launch function on behalf of the Minister for Community Services. The Centre has an impressive track record of providing a range of community services including child care, early education, settlement support services, family counselling and community-based programs.
Lotterywest has also approved a $285,071.00 grant for the upgrade of the Karawara Child Care Centre to create a positive environment to enhance the early childhood development of young children. The state government is pleased to support Gowrie WA, who provide an essential ‘one-stop-shop’ service to the community.
Western Australia is the only state in Australia where profits from lottery games are returned directly back to the community as grants. Since its establishment in 1993, Lotterywest has provided over $43 billion to support Western Australian community organisations. Last financial year Lotterywest delivered a record total of $258.3 million to support the Western Australian communities.
