I welcome the State Government’s $25,000 Community Crime Prevention Fund grant to the City of South Perth.
The grant will assist in supporting local crime prevention initiatives in the community by upgrading the CCTV cameras around the Karawara Gowrie Centre and the George Burnett Leisure Centre. Grant funds will be used to purchase 10 additional CCTV cameras and pay for their installation.
I congratulate the City of South Perth for being a well-deserved recipient of the funding grant.
This funding will support the City of South Perth and the Kensington Police to further reduce anti-social and criminal behaviour around the Gowrie. Increasing the CCTV coverage will directly benefit around 100 families at the Gowrie, and will provide a safer environment for visitors and surrounding homes.
By working together, the City of South Perth and Kensington Police play a vital role in implementing strategies to aid crime prevention. Their commitment to crime prevention and the safety of the community is highly valued by the people of South Perth.
I commend the State Government for prioritising the safety of our local community.
