ANZAC Spirit

John McGrath with Como Secondary School RepresentativesOn ANZAC Day we remember the many lives lost and pay tribute to all Australians who have proudly served our great nation.

Their courage, mateship and bravery reinforces the unique values on which Australia is proud to be founded.

Thank you to the City of South Perth for hosting a special ANZAC tribute service at the South Perth Memorial Gardens on the morning of the 25th April. The service was well attended and it was a timely reminder of our troop’s service to Australia.

South Perth Citizens Commemorate the ANZACs

The South Perth community is to be congratulated for the way it recognized Anzac Day 2012 in such an excellent way.

The traditional Anzac Day service at the South Perth Civic Centre attracted easily the biggest crowd on record as more than 500 gathered to commemorate the 97th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli.

The service was led by Pastor Steve Izett from the South Perth Baptist Church while wreaths were laid by representatives of the RSL, Mayor Sue Doherty, State and federal parliamentarians and representatives of local community organizations.

Aquinas students Edward Sawle (left) and Timothy Walker addressed the gathering on “the value of peace” and “what Anzac Day means to me”.

The previous day both the South Perth and Manning senior citizens centres held Anzac Day lunches that were extremely well attended.
