South Perth MLA John McGrath said the new facility provided at Janet Elder House would enable service provider Southcare to expand on the valuable work it had been carrying out in the community for the past 28 years.
“I congratulate the many hundreds of volunteers who over those years have devoted their time and effort into providing support for those who are less fortunate,” he said.
Mr McGrath said the new facility was the result of strategic long-term planning by the board of Southcare.
“Funding the project was supported primarily by the State Government, with $539,000 coming from Lotterywest and $332,525 from the WA department of Health, while the Commonwealth Government contributed $273,350,” he said.
“The balance was raised by Southcare.”
