Last Thursday I had the pleasure to attend and speak at the 55th anniversary of the South Perth Senior Citizens Centre.

The centre has come a long way since its formation in 1959 as the “South Perth Old People’s Advisory Committee”. It serves many of the community’s seniors under the popular meals on wheels program and also provides other services and facilities at the centre.
Former South Perth MLA Bill Grayden, the prime mover behind the centre and long-time president, also addressed the gathering. He paid special tribute to the many people who have volunteered at the centre over the years.
