TALKING TREES: JOHN McGRATH MLA WITH CHILDREN, PARENTS AND EDUCATORS AT GOWRIE EARLY LEARNING CENTRE IN KARAWARA

John McGrath MLA today joined children, parents and educators at Gowrie Early Learning Centre in Karawara.

Today is National Tree Day and the centre had arranged for Mr McGrath to plant a new tree in the garden near the children’s play area.

He first spoke about trees and environment with the children and asked them questions about what they had learned about trees in the previous week.

PLANTING: ELIJAH HELPS JOHN

All then gathered outside where Elijah helped John plant the tree. Some of the other children also helped by tamping down the soil around the tree with their feet and all said they would help water it and watch it grow.

Gowrie Early Learning Centre hosts children from six weeks old to six years at Karawara. The organisation was founded in 1940.

Mr McGrath wished to thank operations manager Nate Draper for the invitation and educator Fina Zackaria and other staff for their assistance on the day.

A special thanks to Elijah for helping with the planting.
