On Saturday, November 13, I was delighted to be able to support McHappy Day by visiting the South Perth McDonalds store operated by local resident John Ramsay and his family.
Imagine the local MP getting behind the counter and taking orders for Big Macs, Chicken McNuggets and the occasional Mighty Angus.
But it was great fun and all for a good cause. At the end of the day the store raised $1400 in customer donations that will go towards Ronald McDonald Houses, Family Retreats, Family Rooms and the Ronald McDonald Learning Program, all of which assist seriously ill children and their families.
South Perth deputy mayor Sue Doherty also helped out, as did Town of Victoria Park mayor Trevor Vaughan. I also got to meet Ronald McDonald and a couple of Western Force players, Tom Hockings and Tim Fairbrother.
I believe McHappy Day raised over $2.3million across Australia.
Thanks to all the people who donated.
