South Perth MLA John McGrath says he is has found an unlikely ally in Labor MLA John Quigley in his ongoing push for an on-ramp to Kwinana Freeway south at Manning Road.
Speaking in Parliament last week Mr Quigley, the Member for Mindarie said he supported comments made by Mr McGrath about the need for the on-ramp project.
Mr Quigley said “I used to travel down the Kwinana Freeway to Aquinas College to drop off my boy. I know about that Manning slip-road. I think that the member for South Perth raised a very good point about the Manning slip-road, and I would support him in that project, as I do.”
Mr McGrath said it was pleasing to have support from an opposition MP.
Mr McGrath said “I do believe some progress is being made with this project. The
Main Roads Department is looking at design issues to establish if the on-ramp can be constructed within the current road reservation or whether there will be a need for some resumption of adjoining property.”
“With the advent of the Fiona Stanley Hospital at Murdoch it is becoming even more important that the on-ramp be constructed for the convenience of Manning Road traffic heading south on the Freeway” Mr McGrath said
