South Perth MLA John McGrath has welcomed the official opening of a new undercover area at Como Primary School, describing it as a victory for persistence on the part of many past and present members of the school’s P & C.
“This is the result of 17 years of campaigning by respective P & C presidents and their members,” he said. “On so many occasions they felt it was going to happen only to be told the school had dropped down the priority list.
“But through sheer perseverance they have finally made it happen. The school now boasts a modern, state of the art facility that can be enjoyed by all students.”
The undercover area was officially opened on Thursday by Education Minister Liz Constable, who was assisted in the ribbon cutting by retired former principal Bob Mason.
The ceremony was held in front of students, staff and parents.
Mr McGrath said Mr Mason had worked tirelessly with the P & C to get the undercover area for CPS.
“It was good to see him recognized today,” he said.
