Grant provides better security

Gowrie Community Services has received a State Government grant of $21,500 to install CCTV footage, lighting and signage at its Karawara centre.

South Perth MLA John McGrath presented a cheque this week to Gowrie Board Chairman Nick Ward and acting-CEO Tonia Westmore.

Mr McGrath said the funding would enable Gowrie to improve security at the centre.

“Gowrie provides an outstanding service to the local community but unfortunately the good work has been affected by break-ins, graffiti attacks and general anti-social behaviour,” he said.

“Hopefully the use of the CCTVs and extra security measures will make for a much more secure area and assist police in apprehending offenders.”

Mr McGrath said the funding would enable the installation of four day/night cameras along with movement activated lighting to improve the quality of the CCTV images.

The grant is part of the State Government’s commitment to support WA Police’s Strategic Crime Prevention Division.
