South Perth MLA John McGrath supports the Liberal-National Government’s decision to approve a Community Crime Prevention Fund grant of $25,000 for the Esther Foundation Café project in Como.
The grant was approved recently by Police Minister Lisa Harvey.
In announcing the grant, Minister Harvey said the Esther Foundation had shown an outstanding contribution to the commitment of crime prevention and the safety of the community.
The Esther Foundation works with young women to get their lives back on track after being affected by drug abuse and other issues.
Mr McGrath has been a consistent supporter of the South Perth-based Esther Foundation and has previously served on the board. “I have experienced first-hand the successful work the Foundation has undertaken to assist hundreds of young women who have experienced a crisis in their lives,” he said.
“I have seen first-hand how these girls have been able to turn their lives around by participating in the Esther program.
“I also have a great sense of pride that the Esther Café, where all proceeds go towards the facilitation of the Esther Foundation programme, is located in the Preston Street precinct in Como.
“I look forward to continuing to work with the Esther Foundation in ensuring that the community continues to benefit from its services.”
