Once again I was pleased to sponsor the 2015 Phillip Pendal Young Heritage Award conducted by the South Perth Historical Society.
The award, named in hour of my predecessor as Member for South Perth, the late Hon Phillip Pendal, encourages students from primary and secondary schools across the city to submit written pieces that relate to the history of the district.
This is the seventh year of the competition and the judges were delighted at the high standard of the work. Interestingly, two brothers from Aquinas College, Joe, 16, and Mick, 10, O’Sullivan took off the major prizes in the senior and junior sections. Obviously, very talented boys and I was pleased to present them with prizes and meet their proud parents.
Congratulations to the Pendal Family for supporting the award.
